Today we get artistic here on the Pack Rip Cafe. We have some Masterpieces from Upper Deck circa 2008.
2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces
#65 Jorge Posada (Yankees)
A keeper off the top. Notice the detail of the fans in the background.
#94 Ryne Sandberg (Cubs)
The appearance of a low camera angle is a nice touch.
#18 Alfonso Soriano (Cubs)
The detail on the face really shines on this one.
#81 Ichiro (Mariners)
The sharpness of the arms and uniform make this one sweet. Too bad I messed up the left side by accident. Doh!
BY THE NUMBERS:
Total Cards: 4
Teams Represented: 3 Total Cards: 4
Rookie Cards: 0
Sub Sets: 0
Parallels: 0
Inserts: 0
Hits: 0
Keepers for Me: 2 (Posada and Ichiro)
MY RATINGS:
Front Design: 8 out of 10 Great artwork, nice design, textured like canvas, no team logo.
Back Design: 8 out of 10 Nice design, team logo, good player info, One year stats and career total, a good write up on a career achievement and that's the year stats they feature.
Player Selection: 8 out of 10 Very Good
FINAL OVERALL RATING: 2 RBI Single into right field. Two out of four keepers and the fact that this set has really grown on me. I never thought I would miss Upper Deck and they do a lot of stuff that stinks but the Masterpieces sets were great.
Thanks for Reading!
Not too bad.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Jorge Posada. I love UD Masterpieces. Beautiful product. It's really great when a collector can buy a pack and get great cards like this without relying on an auto, relic etc. to make buying the pack worth it. Good Stuff!!
ReplyDeleteI love that set, I only have three more cards to go to complete it!
ReplyDeleteAgreed- great set. The $2.99 price for 4 cards would have been a little hard to swallow at the time, though! -Andy
ReplyDeleteI would not pay $2.99 either. I got it for $1.50 out of the Vend-O-Pack machine.
ReplyDeleteHey Brooklyn Met, what 3 do you need?
I still need: 45, 87, 105. I decided not to go after the SPs except for the Mets like Seaver.
ReplyDeleteSweet
